Ongoing we will highlight brief updates from a couple of divisions around Commerce to help employees know what other divisions are working on.
Securities
Securities had a had a big win this last month, special thanks goes to Division of Securities employees Sean Fuller, Jeff Teichert and Elliott Clark who teamed up with Tyler Murray from the U.S Attorney’s Office. This combined effort resulted in Jason Schwarz being disciplined on October 5th for unlicensed investment fraud, sentenced to a year and a day in federal prison and ordered to pay full restitution, approximately 1.9 million dollars. Way to go Securities and team commerce.
OPRO
Communities looking to get training on the latest land use laws should have an easier time finding funded training programs. The attorneys at the Office of the Property Rights Ombudsman are working to make the Land Use Training Funds more accessible. Rule changes are underway to broaden the methods of trainings reimbursed. A training on the new rules and the updated grant and reimbursement forms will be held once the rule updates are final.
