Governor Cox and Lt. Governor Henderson took some time to visit with Department of Commerce employees on August 3. Commerce hosted the governor’s sub-cabinet meeting in the North conference room. Following the meeting, the governor and lt. governor took a brief tour and met with several employees.
Time was short, but Gov. Cox shared his gratitude for all Commerce employees and the hard work we do to keep the economy of Utah moving. He said that a mark of success is how well the state’s economy is performing, and he’s grateful our department is moving that success along. Gov. Cox also took questions from employees. Though brief, employees asked the governor what was for dinner, how he enjoyed golfing with PGA champion Tony Finau’s dad, Gary Finau, and if he could help bale hay next weekend. (The answers were: rubber chicken at a political event, he loved it, and he was happy to help.)
As part of his visit, Margaret presented the governor and lt. governor with ceremonial certificates of existence for businesses they are associated with, the Cox family farm in Fairview and a small business owned by Lt. Gov. Henderson and her husband.
Thanks to all Commerce employees who helped get our office looking great for the governor’s visit. Special thanks to Division of Corporations admin assistant Jonathan Herrick for taking charge of logistics.
